Sweet Little Line
Sweet Little Line is made by Tatenda Kandi, an individual developer in the United Kingdom. This page explains exactly what the app collects, why, and how to get rid of it. It is short because the app collects very little.
When you first open the app it creates an anonymous account for you. It is a random identifier. It is not linked to your name, email address, phone number, Apple ID or anything else that identifies you, and you are never asked to sign up.
Only because your partner's screen needs something to label your line with. Type whatever you like — it is never checked, and a nickname works just as well.
The short message you set, up to forty characters, along with when you set it and when it should clear. It is stored so it can be shown to the one person you are paired with, and nobody else.
So the app can send a silent signal to your partner's phone telling their lock screen widget to refresh. It identifies the app on your device, not you.
Whether you want to be told when your partner drops a line. Your saved quick lines stay on your own phone and are never sent anywhere.
When you make a code to pair with someone, the code and your first name are stored for ten minutes and then deleted automatically.
What the app does not collect
No email address. No phone number. No location. No contacts, photos or microphone access. No analytics, and no tracking of you across other apps or websites.
The free version shows one advert at the bottom of the main screen, served by Google AdMob. The app requests non-personalised adverts only, which means Google does not use a profile of your interests to choose what you see. Google still receives technical information such as a device identifier, your approximate region and the fact an advert was shown, which it uses to limit repeats and detect fraud. Google's own privacy policy covers what it does with that: policies.google.com/privacy.
A future paid version will remove the advert entirely.
On Google Firebase, on servers in London, United Kingdom. Google processes the data on our behalf as a service provider. Your line is readable only by you and the one person you are paired with.
Unpairing clears both lines and unlinks the two phones.
You can delete everything from inside the app, under Settings. It removes your account, your name, your settings, your lines and your side of the pairing. It cannot be undone and we keep no copy.
If you would rather we did it, or you no longer have the app installed, email hello@sweetlittleline.app and we will do it for you.
Under UK and EU data protection law you have the right to see what is held about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to complain to a regulator. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk. The lawful basis for everything above is that it is necessary to provide the service you asked for.
To exercise any of these, email hello@sweetlittleline.app.
Sweet Little Line is not aimed at children and is not designed for use by anyone under 13.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the change is noted in the app's release notes.
